This week we have done so many things. On Thursday, we had to post-pone our garden project because the weather was cold and wet. We had a social studies test (celebration of knowledge) today. In social studies we learned about how Indians were forced to leave their homes and travel 1,000 miles, today it is known as the Trail of Tears. In gym, we are learning how to play basketball. We have been learning rules, playing certain games, and how to play.
One of the most important things we have done this week is our hot wheels lab. We are learning about forces, Newton's Laws of Motion, and how height effects the distance a car goes down a inclined ramp. We stacked books up, put the ramp on top, and the car on the ramp. We measured how far the car went and recorded our data. Our final lab report was typed up with a cover page, problem, hypothesis, data table, and conclusion. We had tons of fun with this.

This week was very busy and fun! We presented our Revolutionary War hero projects in social studies. We are still collecting donations for Global Partners Running Waters. Each person who donates may write his or her name on a raindrop to be displayed in the hallway.
We're writing a compare and contrast essay in writing. Our new unit in science includes weather and space. We will be studying and doing a project on constellations. We had a science lab studying decomposing matter in soil. Also in science, he are still keeping track of the fish and plants habitat.

We really enjoyed having Mrs. Caporale back this week! This week we started our Little House on the Prairie books. We also made our ecosystems in Science. We have two environments- one aquatic and the other is a plant! In music we are having a musical called Thoroughly Modern Millie which we are all very excited about! Also we had a team building activity at health class. We had to make a pyramid with cups without using our hands. It was a challenge for all of us.
We all had a lot of fun this week with Mrs. Caporale back!

It is so great to be back! The students have made me feel so welcome, and I feel so blessed! The third quarter is about halfway over. Be sure to take a look at PowerSchool to see your child's progress. Also, I met with each student individually today to review progress for Reading Counts for this quarter. Some are ahead of the game, while others have some reading to do in the next few weeks.
